Now in her second season, Head Coach Charity Elliott is excited about her returning core, and the addition of five freshman, many of whom she expects to contribute immediately. Ten Lions return from last year's squad which finished 13-18 overall and 6-10 in West Coast Conference play, good for a tie for fifth in the regular-season standings. The Lions earned the fifth seed in the WCC Tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals before eventually falling to BYU.

Leading the way for the returners is senior point guard Hazel Ramirez, who earned her first career nod on the Preseason All-WCC Team, released last week. An All-WCC Honorable Mention selection in 2012-13, Ramirez averaged 12.7 points, 4.7 assist, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. She also set a school-record by dishing out 12 assists in a single game twice, while her 135 total assists ranks No. 3 all-time at LMU.

With the graduation of Alex Cowling, the LMU and WCC all-time leading scorer, Elliott will look to greater output from a variety of sources including forward Mackenzie Kerins (6.2 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and sophomore guard Deanna Johnson (7.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg). Kerins finished with five double-doubles as a junior while Johnson stepped up down the stretch, reaching double-figures eight times, including back-to-back 20+ point performances.

Also expected to step into key roles are rookie guards Olivia Lucero (Gilbert, Ariz.), Leslie Lopez-Wood (North Hollywood, Calif.) and Alyson Lock (Montebello, Calif.).

Following Monday's exhibition, the Lions open the regular-season on the road for the 11th straight year, traveling to University of New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 9. LMU returns to Gersten Pavilion Nov. 16 to host New Mexico State.
