Ramirez Named WCC Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES - LMU junior point guard Hazel Ramirez has been named the WCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This marks the first Player of the Week honor for the Huntington Park, Calif., native.
Ramirez averaged 14.3 points, 8.7 assists, 4.7 steals and 2.7 rebounds last week as the Lions went 2-1.
On Monday at New Mexico State, Ramirez scored 20 points to go along with five assists and four steals as the Lions fell 77-76 in overtime. Three days later, Ramirez helped LMU pick up its first win, nearly picking up a triple-double with eight points, nine assists and seven steals.
On Saturday, she led the Lions to their second consecutive win, a 98-81 victory over Utah State. She finished with 15 points and an LMU all-time single-game record 12 assists for her first career double-double.
