LMU Women’s Basketball Hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills On Tuesday

LOS ANGELES – The unbeaten Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team (6-0) takes on California State Dominguez Hills (4-3) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 in the first game of a double-header with the Lion men who face California State Los Angeles at 7:30 p.m.

The LMU women’s team has its best start since the 2003-04 season when the Lion women began 8-0. Junior Cheyanne Wallace was just named WCC Player of the Week for games played Nov. 20-27 after averaging 26.0 points and 8.3 boards while leading the Lions to a 3-0 week. She was also selected as the 2017 LMU Thanksgiving Classic MVP after scoring a career-high 30 points and pulling down eight boards in a 84-71 win over Miami (Ohio) on Friday followed by a 22 point/eight rebound performance in a 73-64 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Redshirt junior Bree Alford was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Thanksgiving Classic after averaging 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in LMU’s two wins. She tallied a season-high 15 points against Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

So far on the season, the Lions have earned wins against UC Riverside (67-59), Saint Louis (62-60), Long Beach State (84-69), Arizona (84-70), Miami, Ohio (84-71) and Eastern Michigan (73-64). Loyola Marymount is 3-0 on the road and 3-0 at home inside Gersten Pavilion.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros are 4-3 in 2017-18, unbeaten at home with a 3-0 record, 1-1 on the road, and 0-2 in neutral contests.

Tuesday night’s game will serve as a celebration of the National Day of Giving as the women’s basketball program will be putting on a canned food drive and will be accepting non-perishable foods. Fans that bring two or more donation items to Gersten Pavilion on Tuesday night will the receive the discounted group ticket rate for the game.
