Allison Kaufman enters her first year with the LMU rowing program in 2017-18. Kaufman received her B.A. in English from Holy Cross and an M.F.A. in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Serving as head rowing coach at Pomfret School in Connecticut from 2008 to 2011, she led her squad to an eight-place finish in the 2010 New England Private School Championship. Under her guidance, Kaufman saw four of her rowers go on to compete for Division I schools, including one who was recruited for the U.S. under-23 team.
"When I first met Allison, her passion for the development of athletes was infectious." LMU head coach Hanna Osborne said upon her hire. "I immediately felt Allison would be a great leader for our walk-on athletes having been a walk-on athlete herself, and because she brings about an understanding and enthusiasm to establish an environment for the growth of our newest athletes in our program."
Since college, Kaufman has also demonstrated leadership in the classroom while teaching at the high school and junior college levels in Connecticut, Colorado, and California.
