The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2017-18 West Coast Conference Women's Rowing All-Academic Team. Seventeen student-athletes were named to the first-team, including seven returners from the 2016-17 team. LMU's Anna Davis and Bailey Page were among those named to the first team, while five others took home honorable mention selections.
Davis carries a 3.80 GPA as a psychology major, while Page sports an impressive 3.96 GPA while studying physics and applied mathematics.
Five of this year’s 17 honorees turned in a 3.90 GPA or better, led by All-WCC rower Clare Adams of San Diego with a 3.98. Five more, including Marie Hayman and Olivia Lada of WCC champion Gonzaga, achieved between a 3.80 and 3.89. Both Hayman and Lada return to the list as juniors after making it last season.
All three of Portland’s honorees - Melanie Martinell, Lauren Reid and Acacia Welsford - are also among this year’s returners.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
