Lions Honor Senior Class, Host Waves in PCH Cup Battle

The LMU women's soccer team closes out the 2013 season on its home Sullivan Field Saturday, hosting WCC and PCH Cup rival Pepperdine in a 6 p.m. tilt. The Lions will honor their 11-member senior class prior to kick off.


First Half Trojan Outburst Too Much for Lions

The LMU women's soccer team finally broke the seal with its first goal scored on the road, but it would not be enough to overcome a potent USC attack in a 5-1 final at the Trojans' McAlister Field Sunday afternoon.

Lori Sims begins her fourth year at LMU...2004 All-WCC First Team... is on pace to become LMU's career leading scorer... 2003 All-WCC honorable mention...has great scoring capabilities... strikes the ball well...possesses incredible speed and can change pace and direction at any given moment...was a regional and national ODP team member...will spearhead the Lion attack...one of the top attacking players in the WCC...invited to the U-21 National Team camp in Spring 2005... in just three years, Sims has carved her way into the LMU record books, sitting in the top 10 in every offensive category, both single season and career...

At LMU... 2004...
First team All-WCC... Had one of the top offensive seasons in LMU history... Finished the season with 22 points, second highest total in school history... Eight goals was third, and six assists was tied for fourth in a single season... in the top four in the conference for every offensive category... recorded the third hat trick in LMU history, scoring three goals against Oregon State (Sept. 26)... had three game-winning goals on the season in LMU's wins over Rutgers, Oregon State and Saint Mary's... half of her 70 shots on the season were on goal...

played in 18 games and started four ...scored four goals on the year, leading all returners this season...had a multi-goal game against Saint Mary's (Nov. 8), one of which was the game-winner...also collected two assists on the year for a total of 10 points...was named the LMU Student-Athlete of the Month in November...

earned honorable mention All-West Coast Conference...saw action in 18 games, starting in seven...took 30 shots, including 12 shots on goal...posted a total of six points...scored two goals, including the game-winner against Washington State...won the LMU Golden Goal award for her brilliant goal against UCLA (Oct. 6)...

Sims is a 2002 graduate of Corona High School in Corona, CA...earned four varsity letters in soccer and three in track...a four-time All Mountain View League soccer pick...was named Mountain View League soccer MVP and team MVP as a senior...garnered her team's Most Offensive Player award three straight years...was a third-team All-CIF selection as a junior...three-time All-Mountain View first-team pick in the long jump...also garnered first-team all-league honors in the 100M, 200M and triple jump during her junior campaign...prep soccer coach was Kelli Brew...

Lori Nicole Sims was born on May 18, 1984 in Augusta, GA...the daughter of Rick and Sharon Sims...has one brother, Scott...also recruited by USC, Portland and Pepperdine...chose LMU for its academic reputation and soccer program...competed with teammate Jennifer Horn on the So. Cal Blues team...enjoys running, listening to music and hanging out with friends...a Liberal Studies major.
