Eight new Lions will look to keep the bar raised for LMU women's soccer this fall.


Myers Tabbed WCC Coach of the Year, Eight Players Honored

Callie Taylor was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year while Jo Blankenship and Morgan Hilby were named to the First Team.

Joslyn Slovek enters her fourth year with the Lions... established herself as LMU's number one goalkeeper in 2005... regarded as the best goalkeeper in the WCC... dominant presence in the 18 yard box...

At LMU... 2006... started all 19 games, playing all but 46 minutes... registered 84 saves, 8.5 shutouts and a goals-against-average of 0.70... named the WCC Defender of the Year and First Team All-WCC after five shutouts and a 0.38 GAA in conference play... topped her career-high with 12 saves in double-overtime shutout tie with Portland (Nov. 4)... had all of her shutouts in two-game bunches... had back-to-back shutouts of St. Francis and Oklahoma State (Sept. 8 and 10), Hawaii and Pepperdine (Oct. 3 and 8), at San Francisco and at Saint Mary's (Oct. 20 and 22), and at Gonzaga and home to Portland (Oct. 29 and Nov. 4)... also had a shared shutout at UC Riverside (Sept. 28)... was the WCC Player of the Week for October 30-Nov. 5) and twice named to the Team of the Week... LMU Scholar Athlete of the Year... WCC Academic All-Conference honors... Dean's List Spring 2007... Director's List Fall 2006...

2005... started 19 of team's 20 games... recorded eight shutouts on the year, including two double overtime ties... made a season and career-high 10 saves against Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 25)... second in the WCC in saves per game against conference opponents... made at least four in 12 appearances... made two saves to record a shutout tie in the season opener against Indiana (Aug. 26)... had two shutouts in LMU's two victories in the LMU/Four Points Sheraton Culver City Tournament to earn All-Tournament team honors... second shutout of the tournament was a 1-0 win over #29 Georgia (Sept. 18)... had her third straight shutout in a 2-0 win over UC Riverside (Sept. 23)... made four saves in a 1-0 shutout of Utah (Oct. 2)... made six saves in shutouts of Gonzaga (Oct. 16) and Cal State Northridge (Oct. 27)... saved 76.8% of shots faced... Director's List Fall 2005 and Spring 2006...

2004... shared time in net with Kelly Yukihiro... played in seven games, starting five... recorded shutouts in her first two starts (UC Irvine, Sept. 24 and Oregon State, Sept. 26)... finished season with a 2-1-3 record... allowed one goal or less in all but one appearance... made a season-high six saves in three appearances.... High School... graduated from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 2004 with a 4.11 GPA... was a three-year letterwinner in soccer for coach Robin Carlson... was an all-city selection as a freshman, sophomore and senior... earned All-State 4A honors as a senior... led her team to two state championships... was voted the team's MVP as a senior... earned the Dr. Vole Stuart Coy Scholar-Athlete Award in her final season... club team won USYSA National Championship (2003) and she earned the adidas Golden Glove Award...

Joslyn Elizabeth Slovek was born in Omaha, NE, on Dec. 9, 1985... she is the daughter of Teri and Michael Slovek...she has a brother, Cyrus... parents are the founders of the Soccer Village Foundation in Flagstaff, Ariz... she volunteered with the Blind Institute of Arizona... a Business major.
