Lions Fall to Gaels
Etajha Gilmer scored her first goal of the season, but the Lions dropped a 3-1 decision to Saint Mary's Friday at Sullivan Field.

LOS ANGELES - The LMU women's soccer team out shot visiting Saint Mary's 22-9, but were only able to put one goal in the back of the net in a 3-1 setback Friday night at Sullivan Field.
Saint Mary's (6-9-0, 2-2-0 WCC) struck just 3:22 into the match on a goal by Samantha Dion. The Gaels added to their advantage in the 23rd minute in a Briana Campos goal.
Trailing 2-0 in the 36th minute, Gilmer made a run towards the left post and was able to volley in a cross from Jocelyn Blankenship to leave the Lions down just one at the half.
Saint Mary's responded with its final strike in the 65th minute and seven second-half saves by Gaels' goalkeeper Kaeli Schmidt kept the Lions (3-13-0, 0-5-0 WCC) from adding another tally.
LMU returns to action Sunday for a 1 p.m. match-up against the WCC's newest member, Pacific. The game will be carried live on theW.tv.
