LOS ANGELES - The LMU women's soccer team out shot visiting Saint Mary's 22-9, but were only able to put one goal in the back of the net in a 3-1 setback Friday night at Sullivan Field.

Jocelyn Blankenship led LMU with six shots while Etajha Gilmer had four shots, all on goal, including her first goal of the season.

Saint Mary's (6-9-0, 2-2-0 WCC) struck just 3:22 into the match on a goal by Samantha Dion. The Gaels added to their advantage in the 23rd minute in a Briana Campos goal.

Trailing 2-0 in the 36th minute, Gilmer made a run towards the left post and was able to volley in a cross from Jocelyn Blankenship to leave the Lions down just one at the half.

Saint Mary's responded with its final strike in the 65th minute and seven second-half saves by Gaels' goalkeeper Kaeli Schmidt kept the Lions (3-13-0, 0-5-0 WCC) from adding another tally.

LMU returns to action Sunday for a 1 p.m. match-up against the WCC's newest member, Pacific. The game will be carried live on theW.tv.
