SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Unable to get its offense clicking, the LMU women's soccer team opened the 2013 season by dropping a 3-0 decision to Cal Poly Friday night at the Cal Poly Sports Complex.

The Mustangs (1-0-0) jumped on the board early with a goal by Sara Lancaster at the 10-minute mark. ELise Kreighoff gave Cal Poly a 2-0 advantage in the 19th minute and the home team held a 13-3 shot advantage in the first frame.

LMU (0-1-0) outshot the Mustanges 9-3 in the second period, but CP goalkeeper Alyssa Giannetti collected four saves and Lauren Heer chipped in an insurance goal in the 74th minute for the final three-goal spread.

Tawni Martino and Jocelyn Blankenship had four shots each to lead LMU while Brittany Jagger made six saves in goal.

The Lions make their Sullivan Field debut on Sunday, hosting Northeastern at 4 p.m. A free webstream of the game will be available on LMULions.com.
