Five-Game Homestand Begins Friday
LMU women's soccer hosts Bucknell Friday at 4 p.m. to begin a five-game homestand.
LOS ANGELES - After a two-match road swing across the country to open the 2015 season, the LMU women's soccer team makes its Sullivan Field debut this week, beginning a five-match home stand. The Lions kick off a double dose of LMU soccer on Friday, Aug. 28, hosting Bucknell at 4 p.m.
The Lions open the home stand coming off a pair of tough road matches against two top-25 ranked opponents. A 2-0 setback against then No. 24 Rutgers was followed by a 4-2 loss to then No. 6 Penn State. Strides were made over the weekend, however, as freshman Sarina Bolden scored her first collegiate goal against the Nittany Lions. Senior Jocelyn Blankenship also netted a goal while classmate Shannon Kent earned a pair of assists.

Jocelyn Blankenship's goal at Penn State was her first score since her sophomore season. As a junior last fall, she led the Lions with six assists, but did not find the back of the net herself. Senior midfielder Jocelyn Blankenship was named to the 2015 All-WCC Preseason Team.
LMU was picked seventh in the West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Lions went 9-8-2 overall and 2-6-1 in WCC play last season with a young squad that featured just three seniors.
Seniors Morgan Hilby (5g, 6a), Shannon Kent (6g) and Jocelyn Blankenship (6a) return to the pitch after leading LMU in points, goals and assists last fall. Ten total starters return and 15 total letterwinners while the Lions also welcome nine newcomers and four redshirts.
