LMU has yet to lose a match at home this season and holds a 3-0-2 record on home turf. USC looks strong again this season, earning the No. 12 ranking in this week’s latest United Soccer Coaches national poll. The lone Trojan loss this season came to the hands of Kansas as part of the Jayhawk’s five-match win streak.

“I think playing at Sullivan is a huge advantage for us,” said Head Coach Michelle Myers. “We’re comfortable here and anytime you play on your home turf you have that slight advantage. Every year it is a different team. They lost some significant players, so they’ll be a different team this year, as are we. I think it will be a great matchup. We schedule these games, so that we can play big opponents and be ready for our challenges during conference.”

UCSB started the season with wins in three of their first four games, but have lost twice and tied once since then. The Gauchos have three straight games against West Coast Conference opponents, with Pacific coming to Santa Barbara on Friday, the Lions playing at Harder Stadium on Sunday, and UCSB coming south to play Pepperdine on the Sept. 22.

“It’s always tough when you are splitting a weekend, with one home and one away,” said Myers. “Since Santa Barbara is not too far, hopefully it is ok. This is not too far, and hopefully that long trip to Purdue and Rutgers gave them a little bit of a taste of being on the road and they know what to expect.”

Friday night will be under the lights with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Sunday’s start time has been changed to 5:30 p.m. to accommodate the UCSB men’s team playing earlier in the day.
