LOS ANGELES - The Lions close out the non-conference portion of their 2012 schedule this week, hosting Utah Valley University on Sunday, Sept. 30. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Sullivan Field.

The Lions game on Sunday follows a two-week break from action... They last took to the field against Arizona State and Arizona as part of the Arizona Cats Classic in Tucson... LMU was held scoreless for the first, and second, time this season, falling 3-0 to ASU and playing to a scoreless double-overtime draw against the host Wildcats... Cori McGovern

INSIDE THE LIONS
2012 marks the third time in the last four seasons that LMU won four of its first five games... The last time the Lions had a four-game wins streak was in 2010... Junior Darien Pyka tallied at least one point in four straight games (UC Irvine, Houston Baptist, CSU Bakersfield and Wisconsin) and now leads the squad with seven points on three goals and one assist... Freshman Madison Heilmann and sophomore Brianne Medved each have two goals and one assist for five points... Freshman Jocelyn Blankenship has one goal and a team-high three assists for five points... In all, eight different Lions have scored at least one goal while six players have tallied at least one assist... In goal, junior Brittany Jagger has played every minute, making 42 saves while holding a 1.24 goals against average... The shutout of Arizona was the fourth of the season and 19th of her career, which moves her into a tie for third in LMU's all-time record book... Jagger also now has 21 wins for her career, which puts her in a three-way tie for third in LMU's all-time record book... Tawni Martino's goal on Sept. 9 vs. Idaho State was the 14th of her two-plus year career, moving her into a three-way tie for sixth in LMU's career record book...The Lions have started the same 11 players in all 10 games this season, including a pair of freshmen in Heilmann and Blankenship... The win over Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 19 was the first career victory for head coach Michelle Myers who takes the reigns of the program after serving as an assistant for the past 15 seasons... In a preseason poll, the Lions were picked to finish seventh in the highly competitive WCC... The nine-member league sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2011...
JAGGER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior goalkeeper Brittany Jagger was named the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for September 10, 2012... She was also named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Honor Roll for the week of Sept. 3-9... On Friday, Jagger had six huge saves as the Lions drew a 1-1 tie at then-No. 1 UCLA... On Sunday, she recorded five saves and picked up her third shutout of the season as LMU topped Idaho State, 2-0. For the week, Jagger made 11 saves (.917 save %) and allowed just one goal...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE WOLVERINES
This will be jus the second all-time meeting between the Lions and Wolverines... The only previous meeting came during the 2006 season when the Lions claimed a 4-1 win at Sullivan Field...
THE UTAH VALLEY WOLVERINES
Utah Valley enters Sunday's match at LMU with a 1-9-1 overall record... The Wolverines' most recent result was a 1-0 loss at No. 9 BYU on Thursday night... Their lone win was a 3-2 final over Sacred Heart on Aug. 22... They also earned a 2-2 draw against Southern Utah... Five of UVU's games have gone into overtime... Regan Benson has scored four times and Natalie Baker has a trio of goals to lead the Wolverines... Jessica Duffin and Lauren Sack have both seen significant minutes in goal, combining for a 2.01 GAA and 68 saves.
