Osborne Named WCC Player of the Week
Senior is third consecutive Lion to earn honor
Oct. 8, 2007
Senior Katie Osborne was named the WCC Player of the Week for October 2-9, giving the Lions an unprecedented third consecutive week with the conference's top honor. Osborne had a goal and two assists last week as LMU extended its school-record winning streak to eight games.
Osborne scored the game-winning goal and later added an assist on Thursday in a 2-0 win against Hawai'i and assisted the game-winner against Sacramento State in Sunday's 2-0 victory. She has four goals and 10 points this year, tying her for the team lead in goals and putting her second in points.
Osborne follows the path paved by classmates Jamie Bell (co-Player of the Week for September 24) and Joslyn Slovek (Player of the Week for October 1) to give LMU three Players of the Week in the same season for the first time in program history. The last time a WCC school had three consecutive Players of the Week was 2005, when Portland's Christine Sinclair earned four in a row.
LMU opens WCC play this Sunday at Pepperdine.
