Lions Look for First WCC Win at Santa Clara
The LMU women's soccer team travels to Santa Clara on Friday, then returns home to face Saint Mary's on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES - The LMU women's soccer team hits the road Friday for a 7 p.m. West Coast Conference match=up at Santa Clara. The Lions return home to Sullivan Field on Sunday, hosting Saint Mary's at 1 p.m.

LIONS' LAST LINE
The Lions opened WCC play at home last week, dropping a tight 1-0 decision to visiting San Diego... LMU dominated the match, earning a 15-5 shot advantage, but the Toreros took advantage of a set piece in the 64th minute to knock in the game's lone goal...
INSIDE THE LIONS
The Lions finished non-conference play with at least six wins for the fourth consecutive season... They have yet to drop back-to-back games so far this year... 2012 marks the third time in the last four seasons that LMU won four of its first five games... The last time the Lions had a four-game wins streak was in 2010... The Lions have scored a season-high three goals against Utah Valley on Sept. 30... Tawni Martino's second goal on Sept. 30 vs. Utah Valley was the 16th of her two-plus year career, moving her into a three-way tie for fourth in LMU's career record book... Martino now leads the Lions with four goals and one assist (nine points)... Junior Darien Pyka tallied at least one point in four straight games (UC Irvine, Houston Baptist, CSU Bakersfield and Wisconsin) and now has eight points on three goals and two assists... Freshman Madison Heilmann and sophomore Brianne Medved each have two goals and one assist for five points... Freshman Jocelyn Blankenship has two goals and a team-high three assists for six points... In all, eight different Lions have scored at least one goal while six players have tallied at least one assist... In goal, junior Brittany Jagger has played every minute, making 46 saves while holding a 1.31 goals against average... The shutout of Arizona was the fourth of the season and 19th of her career, which moves her into a tie for third in LMU's all-time record book... Jagger also now has 22 wins for her career, which puts her in third place in LMU's all-time record book... The Lions have started the same 11 players in 10 of their 11 games this season, including a pair of freshmen in Heilmann and Blankenship... The win over Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 19 was the first career victory for head coach Michelle Myers who takes the reigns of the program after serving as an assistant for the past 15 seasons... In a preseason poll, the Lions were picked to finish seventh in the highly competitive WCC... The nine-member league sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2011...
JAGGER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior goalkeeper Brittany Jagger was named the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for September 10, 2012... She was also named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Honor Roll for the week of Sept. 3-9... On Friday, Jagger had six huge saves as the Lions drew a 1-1 tie at then-No. 1 UCLA... On Sunday, she recorded five saves and picked up her third shutout of the season as LMU topped Idaho State, 2-0. For the week, Jagger made 11 saves (.917 save %) and allowed just one goal... HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE BRONCOS
The Lions are 4-14-1 all-time against Santa Clara... That record includes one previous win at the Broncos Buck Shaw Stadium - a 2-0 victory that came during the 2010 season... Last year Santa Clara claimed a 4-0 shutout over LMU at Sullivan Field...
THE SANTA CLARA BRONCOS
Santa Clara is 7-2-4 overall and 0-0-1 in WCC play after earning a scoreless draw against then No. 6 BYU on Oct. 5... The Broncos are riding a nine-game unbeaten streak that has included three tires and five wins... Their two losses this season came at the hands of then No. 1 Stanford and Notre Dame... Lauren Matheson leads the Broncos with four goals while Sophia Huerta, Julie Johnston and Olivia Klei have each scored three times... For the season, SCU has outscored opponents 21-15... Andi Tostanoski has stared all 13 games for the Broncos, posting a 1.10 GAA to go along with 54 saves and five shutouts...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE GAELS
The Lions are 11-6-2 all-time against Saint Mary's, including a 7-2-1 mark in Los Angeles... LMU is riding a five-game win streak against the Gaels dating back to the 2007 season... Last fall Darien Pyka and Brianne Medved each tallied a goal to lead the Lions past the Gaels, 2-1, in Moraga...

Saint Mary's enters the week with a 6-5-2 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in WCC play... The Gaels host San Diego on Friday before making the trip to Sullivan Field... SMC opened WCC play on Oct. 7 with a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win at Gonzaga... Vicki Shimkus leads the Gaels with four goals and two assists for 10 points... Katy Roby has a team high four assists... In goal Khaya Jones has seen the majority of the minutes... In 11 games played, she has 58 saves, three shutouts and a 1.10 GAA...
