PCH Cup Match, Senior Day On Tap
LMU women's soccer looks for PCH Cup, and WCC, points Friday at Pepperdine and will honor its senior class Sunday versus San Francisco.

LOS ANGELES - Fresh off its first West Coast Conference win, the LMU women's soccer team heads into a key weekend beginning with a Friday trip up the coast to Malibu to face No. 15 Pepperdine. The 3 p.m. WCC match-up is also part of the Fourth Annual Wells Fargo PCH Cup. On Sunday, the Lions return to Sullivan Field to host San Francisco at 1 p.m. Prior to kick off LMU will honor it's five member senior class in a short ceremony.
LIONS' LAST LINE
The Lions (7-5-2, 1-2-0 WCC) earned their first West Coast Conference win of the season, topping visiting Saint Mary's, 3-2... Emily Maletis put the Lions on the board in the 12th minute and Jocelyn Blankenship gave LMU a 2-1 lead by halftime... Cassidy Nicks added an insurance goal early in the second half, which ended up being much needed as the Gaels attempted a late rally, scoring with just under four minutes remaining... Blankenship and Nicks also added assists for three points each on the day while Whitney Sharpe assisted the third goal...
INSIDE THE LIONS
The Lions finished non-conference play with at least six wins for the fourth consecutive season... They have yet to drop back-to-back games so far this year... 2012 marks the third time in the last four seasons that LMU won four of its first five games... The last time the Lions had a four-game wins streak was in 2010... The Lions scored a season-high three goals against Utah Valley (Sept. 30) and Saint Mary's (Oct. 14)... Tawni Martino's second goal on Sept. 30 vs. Utah valley was the 16th of her two-plus year career, moving her into a three-way tie for fourth in LMU's career record book... Martino now leads the Lions with four goals... After tallying three points on Oct. 14 versus Saint Mary's, Jocelyn Blankenship leads the Lions in points (three goals and four assists)... Darien Pyka tallied at least one point in four straight games (UC Irvine, Houston Baptist, CSU Bakersfield and Wisconsin) and now has eight points on three goals and two assists... Madison Heilmann and Brianne Medved each have two goals and one assist for five points... In all, 10 different Lions have scored at least one goal while eight players have tallied at least one assist... In goal, junior Brittany Jagger has played every minute, making 59 saves while holding a 1.31 goals against average... The shutout of Arizona was the fourth of the season and 19th of her career, which moves her into a tie for third in LMU's all-time record book... Jagger also now has 23 wins for her career, which puts her in third place in LMU's all-time record book... The Lions have started the same 11 players in 13 of their 14 games this season, including a pair of freshmen in Heilmann and Blankenship... The win over Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 19 was the first career victory for head coach Michelle Myers who takes the reigns of the program after serving as an assistant for the past 15 seasons... In a preseason poll, the Lions were picked to finish seventh in the highly competitive WCC... The nine-member league sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2011...
JAGGER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior goalkeeper Brittany Jagger was named the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for September 10, 2012... She was also named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Honor Roll for the week of Sept. 3-9... On Friday, Jagger had six huge saves as the Lions drew a 1-1 tie at then-No. 1 UCLA... On Sunday, she recorded five saves and picked up her third shutout of the season as LMU topped Idaho State, 2-0. For the week, Jagger made 11 saves (.917 save %) and allowed just one goal...
The Lions are 5-10-5 all-time against Pepperdine... That mark includes a 2-6-1 record in Malibu... Last year LMU fell 2-0 to the then No. 5 ranked Waves... Prior to that match-up, six of the previous seven games went into extra time, four resulting in a draw...
THE PEPPERDINE WAVES
Pepperdine is ranked No. 15 in the latest NSCAA poll... The Waves enter the week with an 11-3-0 overall record and perfect 2-0-0 mark in the WCC following a 2-1 win over then No. 18 Santa Clara last week... The offensive catalyst for the Waves is Amanda LeCave who leads the WCC with 10 goals... She gets plenty of support from her teammates as well as Anisa Guajardo has six goals and eight assists, Michelle Pao has two goals and eight assists and Lynn Williams has four goals and three assists... In goal, Roxanne Barker has started 12 of 14 games, posting five shutouts and a 0.91 GAA to go along with 58 saves...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE DONS
The Lions are 12-5-2 all-time against San Francisco, including a 6-2-2 record in Los Angeles... LMU held a 12-match win streak over the Dons from 1998-2009 until the teams played to a scoreless draw in 2010... Last fall in San Francisco, the Lions suffered a 2-1 loss to USF... Etajha Gilmer scored the lone goal for LMU...
THE SAN FRANCISCO DONS
San Francisco is 6-6-3 overall and 1-3-0 in the WCC entering this week... The Dons play at Saint Mary's on Friday before making the trip to Sullivan Field... USF picked up its first WCC win last week - a 2-0 shutout of Gonzaga... Mackenzie Krieser leads the squad with eight goals and two assists for 18 points... three other Dons have scored twice on the year... Three players have seen time in goal, led by Madalyn Schiffel... In 10 starts she has recorded three shutouts and a 1.12 GAA to go along with 62 saves...
COMING UP NEXT
The Lions hit the road for the final time this season, traveling to the Northwest for a pair of WCC matches... On Friday, Oct. 26 LMU faces Gonzaga in Spokane at 3 p.m.... The road trip concludes on Sunday, Oct. 28 with a 1 p.m. kick off at Portland...
