Final Roadtrip Offers Two Key WCC Match-Ups
The Lions look to extrend their three-game win streak when they travel to face Gonzaga on Friday and Portland on Sunday in key WCC match-ups.

LOS ANGELES - Riding a three-match win streak, the Lions hit the road for the final time this season for two more key West Coast Conference match-ups. LMU will face Gonzaga on Friday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. in Spokane, Wash., followed by Portland on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

LIONS' LAST LINE
The Lions (9-5-2, 3-2-0 WCC) moved into a three-way tie for second in the WCC standings after earning their second and third straight wins last week... First came a 3-0 shutout of then No. 15 Pepperdine, which snapped a 27-game regular-season home win streak for the Waves... Cassidy Nicks, Emily Maletis and Etajha Gilmer scored in the match while Brittany Jagger made eight saves on her way to her sixth shutout of the season... Back on Sullivan Field two days later, Darien Pyka netted her third game-winner of the season, scoring just 11 seconds into overtime to give the Lions a 1-0 win over San Francisco...
Following their 3-0 upset of then No. 15 Pepperdine on Oct. 19, the Lions saw their NCAA RPI jump to No. 50 in the latest poll, released Monday... LMU is now among five WCC teams in the top 50... Other WCC squads includes BYU (fifth), Santa Clara (eighth), Pepperdine (16th) and Portland (24th)... The NCAA RPI is used to help select at-large teams for the 64-team NCAA Tournament...
INSIDE THE LIONS
LMU's 3-0 shutout of then No. 15 Pepperdine (Oct. 19) was the team's first win over a ranked opponent this season... The Lions have scored a season-high three goals three times, including against Utah Valley (Sept. 30), Saint Mary's (Oct. 14) and Pepperdine (Oct. 19)... Tawni Martino's second goal on Sept. 30 vs. Utah Valley was the 16th of her two-plus year career, moving her into a three-way tie for fourth in LMU's career record book... Martino is tied for the team lead with four goals... Darien Pyka tallied at least one point in four straight games (UC Irvine, Houston Baptist, CSU Bakersfield and Wisconsin) and now has 11 points on four goals and three assists... The junior midfielder also leads the squad with three game-winning goals... Rookie Jocelyn Blankenship also has 11 points coming one three goals and a team-high five assists... In all, 11 different Lions have scored at least one goal while eight players have tallied at least one assist... In goal, Brittany Jagger has played every minute, making 70 saves while holding a 1.15 goals against average... The shutout of San Francisco (Oct. 21) was the sixth of the season and 21st of her career, which is third in LMU's all-time record book... Jagger also now has 25 wins for her career, which puts her in third place in LMU's all-time record book... The win over Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 19 was the first career victory for head coach Michelle Myers who took over the reigns of the program beginning this season after serving as an assistant for the past 15 seasons... The Lions finished non-conference play with at least six wins for the fourth consecutive season... 2012 marks the third time in the last four seasons that LMU won four of its first five games... The last time the Lions had a four-game wins streak was in 2010... In a preseason poll, the Lions were picked to finish seventh in the highly competitive WCC... The nine-member league sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2011...
JAGGER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK TWICE
Junior goalkeeper Brittany Jagger was named the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for September 10, 2012 and October 22, 2012... She has also been named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Honor Roll for the weeks of Sept. 3-9 and Oct. 15-21...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE BULLDOGS
The Lions are 14-3-3 all-time against Gonzaga, including a 6-2-0 mark in Spokane... LMU rode a four-match win streak against the Zags from 2006-09 before suffering a rare loss in 2010... Last fall, the teams played to a scoreless draw at Sullivan Field...
THE GONZAGA BULLDOGS
Gonzaga is 6-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in WCC play... The Bulldogs are riding a three-game losing streak while their one conference tie was a 1-1 final against Portland on Oct. 11... Gonzaga's offense had been paced by Kasey Rubosky's four goals and one assist. Sila Tuiofea and Emma Dolcetti have each scored three times for the Zags who have 19 total goals on the season... Susan Brown has played every minute in goal for Gonzaga, earning three shutouts while making 66 saves and posting a 1.64 GAA...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE PILOTS
The Lions will be seeking their first-ever win over the Pilots on Sunday as the current all-time record stands at 0-18-1... Portland, a perennial power in women's soccer, holds a five-match win streak over the Lions, dating back to a scoreless draw in 2006... In 2011, the Pilots claimed a 2-0 win over the Lions at Sullivan Field... Amanda Frisbie and Kaila Camelo offer a solid one-two punch offensively as they currently lead the team with nine and eight goals, respectively... Frisbie also has a team high five assists... Portland has outscored opponents 29-15 through 15 games... In goal, Erin Dees has started all but three games, posting three shutouts while making 47 saves and holding a 1.17 GAA...
THE PORTLAND PILOTS
Portland enters the week with an 8-4-3 overall record and 2-1-1 WCC mark... The Pilots have won two straight, including a 2-1 overtime victory at San Diego and a 3-0 shutout of Saint Mary's... The Pilots host Pepperdine on Friday before LMU comes to town on Sunday...
