LIONS' LAST LINE
The Lions (9-7-2, 3-4-0 WCC) suffered a pair of losses on their final roadtrip of the season, falling 2-0 to both Gonzaga and Portland... LMU wraps up the 2012 regular-season against its fifth nationally ranked opponent of the season - No. 4 BYU... Seniors Yianna Dimmit, Cori McGovern, Kimi Miyashima, Paige Pennington and Whitney Sharpe will be suiting up for the final time...
INSIDE THE LIONS
LMU's 3-0 shutout of then No. 15 Pepperdine (Oct. 19) was the team's first win over a ranked opponent this season... The Lions have scored a season-high three goals three times, including against Utah Valley (Sept. 30), Saint Mary's (Oct. 14) and Pepperdine (Oct. 19)... Tawni Martino's second goal on Sept. 30 vs. Utah Valley was the 16th of her two-plus year career, moving her into a three-way tie for fourth in LMU's career record book... Martino is tied for the team lead with four goals... Darien Pyka tallied at least one point in four straight games (UC Irvine, Houston Baptist, CSU Bakersfield and Wisconsin) and now has 11 points on four goals and three assists... The junior midfielder also leads the squad with three game-winning goals... Rookie Jocelyn Blankenship also has 11 points coming one three goals and a team-high five assists... In all, 11 different Lions have scored at least one goal while eight players have tallied at least one assist... In goal, Brittany Jagger has played every minute, making 70 saves while holding a 1.15 goals against average... The shutout of San Francisco (Oct. 21) was the sixth of the season and 21st of her career, which is third in LMU's all-time record book... Jagger also now has 25 wins for her career, which puts her in third place in LMU's all-time record book... The win over Cal State Fullerton on Aug. 19 was the first career victory for head coach Michelle Myers who took over the reigns of the program beginning this season after serving as an assistant for the past 15 seasons... The Lions finished non-conference play with at least six wins for the fourth consecutive season... 2012 marks the third time in the last four seasons that LMU won four of its first five games... The last time the Lions had a four-game wins streak was in 2010... In a preseason poll, the Lions were picked to finish seventh in the highly competitive WCC... The nine-member league sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2011...
JAGGER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK TWICE
Junior goalkeeper Brittany Jagger was named the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for September 10, 2012 and October 22, 2012... She has also been named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Honor Roll for the weeks of Sept. 3-9 and Oct. 15-21... HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE COUGARS
Thursday will mark just the fourth all-time meeting between LMU and BYU... The Lions are 1-2-0 in previous match-ups... LMU's lone win came in 2004 - a 2-1 final... The teams met for the first time as conference opponents in 2011 with BYU clinching a 3-0 victory in Provo...
THE BYU COUGARS
BYU is 16-1-1 on the season at 5-0-1 in WCC play... The one blemish on the Cougars' record this season was a 1-0 loss at Utah back on Aug. 25... BYU has been unbeaten since and held scoreless on just one other occasion, a 0-0 draw against then No. 21 Santa Clara... The Cougars have outscored opponents 44-10 while also posting nine shutouts... They have allowed more than one goal just once - in a 3-2 win over UC Irvine in their season-opener... Michelle Murphy leads BYU with eight goals and seven assists for 23 points... Jessica Ringwood has also scored eight times while Carlee P. Holmoe had a team high nine assists... In goal, Erica Owens has eight shutouts and a 0.57 GAA...
