LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Junior Lori Sims (Corona, CA) was named to the 2004 Academic All-District VIII Women's Soccer University Division team, announced today. The forward is a first-team selection, and will now move on to the national Academic All-American ballot.

Sims is LMU's leading scorer this season with eight goals and six assists for 22 points. The Lions are 10-6-3 on the season, and are looking for a win on Friday at San Diego to boost their chances at an NCAA Touranament bid.

Sims is a two-time All-WCC honorable mention selection, and ranks second in the WCC for points per game this season. She is also in the top four for points, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game, shots, shots per game, shots on goal, and shots on goal per game.

Her eight goals on the season ranks her third on the LMU single season chart, and her 22 points puts her in second place for points in a season. She has 14 career goals and 38 career points, putting her in the top-five in each career category in just her junior year.

She was named to the Athletic Department honor roll twice, and was named the LMU Student-Athlete of the Month for November of 2003.

Sims, a liberal studies major with a 3.29 GPA, joins four other WCC players on the first team- Marie-Claude Henry (San Diego), Lindsey Huie (Portland), Megan Kakadelas (Santa Clara), and Christine Sinclair (Portland).

The honor is voted on by the Sports Information Directors of District VIII, which consists of all institutions in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, along with the Canadian province of British Columbia.
