Don Dykstra enters his sixth season with the Lions' program, joining the staff in 2001.
Since joining LMU, the Lions have become one of the top hitting teams in the nation. In the team's first season in the PCSC, Dykstra helped the hitters lead the league in hitting. In 2004, LMU's slugging percentage was 229 points higher than the second place team in the PCSC. In addition, he helped the Lions lead the nation in doubles in 2003 and finish second on batting average in 2004.
In 2005, the Lions again led the conference in batting average, slugging percentage and home runs. In 2006, the very young Lions were second in the conference in batting average and home runs.
Under Dykstra's guidence, every LMU home run record has been broken, and all five of the top Lion home run hitters have been tutored under Dykstra. In addition, the top six LMU single season home run performances have come during Dykstra's time with the Lions.
