Sami Strinz, who starred for the LMU softball team from 2001-04, and Randy Ward, have been named assistant coaches for the current Lion softball squad.
LMU softball Head Coach Gary Ferrin has announced the hiring of former University of Washington standout Morgan Stuart as an assistant coach on his staff.
She batted .476 in the six games, with a World Series-high 10 hits in 21 at-bats. Stuart also racked up 16 total bases, one shy of the all-time WCWS record.
In addition to per Pac-10 honorable mention honors, Stuart was as honorable mention Pac-10 All-Freshman team selection in 2008, a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Week during her four-year career and a two-time first team Academic All-Pac-10 honoree. As a senior, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-American District VIII team.
Stuart was a four-year all-league selection at Riverside Poly High School, and was named the Ivy League MVP, first-team all-county and first-team all-state her last two years. She led her team to three consecutive league championships (2004-2006) and to the 2004 CIF Championship.
Stuart spent the summer of 2013 playing for a professional team in Zurich, Switzerland.
