CLEARWATER, Fla. - The LMU softball team concluded three days of action at the USF Under Armour Invitational Sunday morning, wrapping up a five-game swing with a 5-1 win over Central Arkansas.

The Lions (7-8) went 3-2 at the tournament, also earning wins over Kennesaw State, 1-0, and Temple, 2-1. LMU dropped a 5-0 decision to host USF and a 10-0, 5-inning final against Florida Atlantic.

Sophomore hurler Sydney Gouveia was near flawless in her three appearances, going a perfect 3-0. She tossed an 8-inning, 11-strikeout, one-hitter in the tournament opener against Kennesaw State as Hannah Montalban would drive in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Against Temple, Gouveia fanned 12 while giving up two hits and one earned run in the 2-1 victory. Ander Lopez would give LMU a 1-0 lead int he first on an RBI double and Sterling Shuster singled in an insurance run in the sixth.

In Sunday's tournament finale against Central Arkansas, Gouveia surrendered a run in the second, but would be near flawless for the balance of the game, finishing with a season-high 16 strikeouts. She also got ample support from her battery as the Lions tallied two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Amanda Dirks led the way with a pair of hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Fellow freshman Lopez also had a pair of hits while Montalban, Shuster and Alex Finie each drove in a run.
