*PLEASE NOTE* LMU’s game vs. Cal Poly that was postponed from Friday to tomorrow morning has been CANCELLED.
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Loyola Marymount softball team (7-10-1) competed in Day 2 of the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton today, dropping both contests to Stanford and Fresno State.
Stanford earned a 4-0 shutout victory in Game 1 of the day. The first five innings of the game were scoreless, before the Cardinal scored their four runs in the sixth and seventh innings to close it out. The first two came on a two-run homer in the sixth, and and the final two were RBIs from singles to center and left field.
In Game 2 of the day, Fresno State came away with the 5-2 victory. After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Bulldogs came up big in the fourth, they scored their final run in the fifth to go up 5-0. The Lions fought to score their only two runs of the day in the last two innings. Delanie Wisz was driven home on a Sabrina Tebou single to right field. In the seventh, Molly Grumbo singled up the middle to bring Lindsey Matoi home.
LMU’s game against Cal Poly that was postponed from Friday tomorrow morning has been cancelled. The Lions will next take the field when they host BU at home on Tuesday for a 12 and 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
