Lions Defeat Hoosiers
Meeks hurls two-hit shutout to lead Lions to the 8-0 win over Indiana.

LONG BEACH, Calif.- Kayla Meeks threw a two-hit shutout to lead the Lions to an 8-0 win over Indiana at the Long Beach State Tournament this afternoon. Tracy Cook was 2-for-3 with three RBI and a triple for the Lions.
Loyola Marymount (9-6) took an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the first. An RBI triple by Danielle Kaminaka and a sacrifice fly by Caylin Horish did the damage for the Lions.
LMU added another two runs in the fourth inning, as Cook drove home Kaminaka and Emily Foltz with a triple. LMU scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game with the eight-run advantage. Lisa Abbott's two-RBI double, her second of the day, ended the game.
Senior Katie Witham (2-5) took the loss for IU. The right-hander started the game and lasted just one inning, giving up two runs on two hits. Roark hurled five innings in relief work allowing six runs on seven hits. The right-hander also notched nine strikeouts and walked just one batter.
Meeks (4-0) earned the win for Loyola Marymount. She threw the shutout scattering just two hits. The hurler struck out four on the day and did not permit a walk. At the plate, she was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
LMU will face #25 Long Beach State later today. The Lions finish off play at the Long Beach State Tournament against San Diego State on Sunday at 9:00am.
