Hitting Woes Continue

March 13, 2005
LONG BEACH, Calif. - LMU's hitting woes continued, as the Lions suffered their third shutout of the weekend, falling to San Diego State 1-0 in the final game of the Long Beach State Tournament. The Aztecs scored their only run in the first inning, and it would be all that they would need.
The Aztecs (18-10) used small ball to score its only run. Erin Mahoney led off the bottom of the first with a bunt single. She advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. During Alison Smith's at-bat, Mahoney stole third base. She came home on Smith's fielder's choice.
Kayla Meeks took the loss for LMU, allowing just one run on four hits. She struck out three batters and did not allow a walk.
The Lions look to rebound when they host Arizona State on Monday in a doubleheader starting at noon.
