SAN DIEGO - The LMU softball team concluded its three-game West Coast Conference series at San Diego Saturday, falling 3-2 and 6-1 to the Toreros.
San Diego (21-19, 6-3 WCC) scored twice in the fourth in a two-RBI triple by Kylie Ordos. LMU (20-22, 1-8 WCC) responded with Crist's homer in the top of the first, cutting the dread to one, 2-1. The Toreros added a third run in the bottom of the fifth and Finie knocked her long ball in the sixth, but the Lions would come up just short.
In the nightcap, USD exploded for six runs in the second inning courtesy seven hits and one LMU error. That would be all the scoring the Toreros would need as the Lions managed just a single run in the fourth.
Bree Sandoval had a pair of hits for LMU while four others had one. Rachael Farrington took the loss in the pitching circle after surrendering the six runs. Andy Wellins tossed the final four scoreless frames while allowing just two hits.
LMU hits the road for the final time next week, traveling to face BYU in Provo for a three-game series on Apr. 25-26.
