Abbott, Strinz Sweep PCSC Player/Pitcher of the Week Honors
Feb. 19, 2004 San Diego, Calif. - Loyola Marymount's Lisa Abbott and Sami Strinz were selected as the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today. Abbott and Strinz led the Lions to a 2-2 finish at the Southern Utah Tournament. Abbott went 6-for-13 at the plate over the four games. The junior tallied three home runs, two doubles, and four RBI during the tournament. She added six putouts and two assists from left field. In the Lions' extra-inning-loss to Utah (10-9, 8 innings), Abbott went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored, including two home runs and a double. Strinz was LMU's pitcher of record in each of its four contests at the tournament. She allowed 11 runs on 15 hits in 19.1 innings of work. The senior struckout 14 batters, while walking just six in her four appearances. Strinz threw two complete games, including the win over Utah where she gave up two runs on five hits without a walk while striking out six. This weekend, the Lions travel to UC Santa Barbara's Softball By the Beach Tournament. The tournament field includes Kansas, UC Riverside, BYU, Florida International, Central Florida, and California.
