SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Loyola Marymount freshman pitcher Linnay Wilson has been named the West Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Wilson had a big week in the circle for the Lions, posting a 2-0 record in three appearances. She posted a 0.78 ERA in 18 innings pitched, including a three-hit shutout victory over Hawaii. She scattered just 10 hits on the week while striking out 20 batters and issuing just three walks.
This marks the first time the freshman has won the weekly award, as she is just nine games in to her collegiate career.
Along with Wilson, San Diego junior outfielder Taylor Spence was announced as the WCC Softball Player of the Week. The conference selects both a player and pitcher of the week for each seven-day stretch throughout the season.
