Softball Travels to Florida for Six Games
The LMU softball team takes part in the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.
Feb. 27, 2014
LOS ANGELES - Fresh off a 4-1 record at last week's Amy S. Harrison Classic in Riverside, the LMU softball team looks to keep that momentum rolling as they head to Clearwater, Fla., for the USF Under Armour Invitational Feb. 28-Mar. 2.
The Lions will open tournament play on Friday, Feb. 28 against Kennesaw State and Florida Atlantic. Day two features opponents Temple and host USF. LMU closes out play against Central Arkansas on March 2.
LMU will also play a neutral site game against Maine on March 3 before returning to Los Angeles where they will begin a 17-game home stand on March 6.
The Lions' 4-1 record last week was due in large part to eh performance of pitcher Syndey Gouveia. The sophomore hurler went 4-0 with 28 strikeouts and a 0.33 ERA in four appearances, including recording her first career no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Seattle.
Senior third baseman Meghan Harman continues to lead the Lion battery, entering this week with a .385 average, 10 hits, five RBIs and four runs scored. Stephanie Crist (.364) and Nicole Clowdus (.300) join Harman as the Lions hitting .300 or better.
