LOS ANGELES - LMU swept the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Week 6 awards as junior third baseman Meghan Harman took home Player of the Week honors and freshman pitcher Sydney Gouveia was named Pitcher of the Week. This was the first such honor for both players.
Harman hit .571 (8x14) with two HRs and five RBI in six games last week. She reached base in all six games played, scored five runs, had one double and one triple to post a 1.214 slugging pct. She was also walked nine times to post a .739 on-base average and went 2x2 in stolen bases while striking out just once in 18 plate appearances.
Harman recorded three multi-hit games, going 4x5 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored in an 11-2 win over Maine; walking four times in a 4-2 victory over Penn State; and was 2x2 with a run scored, an RBI and two walks in a 9-4 win over Long Island. She finished the weekend going 2x3 with two HRs, three RBI and two runs scored against Chattanooga.
Gouveia made six appearances, including three starts, going 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA (29.1 IP, 4 ER). She won all three starts against Penn State, Central Michigan and Northwestern, striking out 45, walking eight and holding opponents to a .168 batting average.
The Arroyo Grande, Calif., native had back-to-back 10 strikeout performances against the Chippewas (7.0 IP, 6 H 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB) and Wildcats (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB). She also struck out seven in 4.0 scoreless innings of relief against Toledo (1 H), fanned five in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief against Maine (0 H, 0 BB) and struck out nine against the Nittany Lions (7.0 IP 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 HBP).
