LOS ANGELES - Battle for the 2013 Pacific Coast Softball Conference crown begins this weekend as the Lions open league action with a four-game series at CSU Bakersfield. The teams play a pair of doubleheaders both Saturday and Sunday with first pitch each day scheduled for noon at the Roadrunner Softball Complex.

LMU wrapped up the non-conference position of its schedule with a 17-14 record and is fresh off an 8-7 win over Harvard on Wednesday... The Lions have four players batting better than .300 including junior third baseman Meghan Harman (.375), senior infielder/outfielder Skylar Segura (.373), freshman outfielder Hannah Montalban (.373) and sophomore second baseman Sterling Shuster (.313)... Shuster and Montalban share the team lead with eight doubles apiece while eight players have gone yard... Freshman Stephanie Crist tops the home run list with six while Harman has five... As a staff, LMU's pitchers combine for a .247 ERA... Freshman Sydney Gouveia leads the way with a 1.41 ERA and 8-1 record... The rookie, who has won back-to-back PCSC Pitcher of the Week honors, has 130 strikeouts in 79.2 innings of work... She currently ranks fourth in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (11.7)...

LMU holds a 16-10 all-time record against CSU Bakersfield, including an 8-6 advantage in Bakersfield... The Lions swept the four-game series against the Roadrunners in both 2010 and 2011 before settling for a 2-2 split last spring... CSUB enters with weekend with a 3-16 overall record...
