LOS ANGELES - Riding a four-game win streak, the LMU softball team heads to Provo, Utah, to face the Pacific Coast Softball Conference preseason favorite, BYU, for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. Friday's doubleheader begins at 4 p.m Pacific while first pitch Saturday is set for noon Pacific. Saturday's games will also be broadcast live on BYUtv (DirectTV Channel 374 and Dish Channel 9403) and webstreamed at BYUtv.org.

The Lions enter the week riding a four-game win streak after a PCSC series sweep of Saint Mary's... LMU now sits at 8-4 in PCSC play, good for second place behind BYU, which is 6-2... Pitching dominated for the Lions against the Gaels as they allowed just four runs, three earned, in the four-game set... LMU also saw some much-needed clutch hitting as two games were decided by one run - including the series finale that saw a seventh-inning two-out rally capped by a walk-off, RBI-single by Hannah Montalban... The freshman has been one of the most consistent hitters for LMU recently and now leads the team with a .367 average... Junior Meghan Harman leads LMU overall with 42 hits, including eight doubles, one triple and six home runs (.353 average)... Sterling Shuster has also come on strong as of late and is one of four Lions batting over .300 while also leading the battery with 12 doubles... The Lions' pitching staff holds a combined 2.26 ERA... Sydney Gouveia leads the way with a 13-2 record and 1.54 ERA in 24 total appearances... The freshman's 11.5 strikeouts per seven innings is good for No. 3 in the nation... She also ranks 9th in total strikeouts (195) and 12th in shutouts (6)... Skylar Segura is also ranked among the nation's best, coming in at No. 5 in sacrifice hits per game (0.37)...

This four-game series makes a match-up between the current two top teams in the PCSC standings... BYU sits in first a 6-2 while LMU is in second at 8-4... In a preseason coaches poll, the Cougars were picked to win the PCSC while the Lions were picked to finish second... LMU enters the series riding a four-game sweep of Saint Mary's...
