LOS ANGELES – Senior shortstop Lindsey Matoi of LMU softball was named to the 2018 WCC All-Academic team, the conference office announced. At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
Matoi, a civil engineering major at LMU, earned the honor after posting a 3.67 GPA. This marks the second straight year she has been named to the conference’s All-Academic Team.
Overall, she has played in 141 games with 124 starts at LMU while securing 73 hits, 11 doubles and two home runs in her career. She has also recorded 36 total runs with 29 RBI, including a career-high 16 this season, 278 assists and 182 putouts. She ranks eighth all-time in LMU softball history for sacrifice hits with 26.
Following the conclusion of her Loyola Marymount career, Matoi will be attending Cornell University to earn her master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering.
