Sam Fischer All-America Candidate
Sophomore shortstop Sam Fischer is on pace to shatter the LMU and Pacific Coast Softball Conference record books. A quick look at Fischer's resume: Fischer's Career Highlights: PCSC Coastal Division Player of the Week (April 19) PCSC Coastal Division Player of the Week (March 23) PCSC Coastal Division Player of the Week (Feb. 16) LMU Female Athlete of the Year Nominee 14 home runs (second in LMU and PCSC in a single season) Three two-home run games 2009 All-PCSC Second Team PCSC Player of the Week Led LMU in batting average (.360) and hits (62) while tying for the lead in runs scored (37) and recording a team-high 18 multiple hit games. She was also second with nine doubles and 11 home runs. Her numbers in PCSC reflected her consistency as she hit .354 with four home runs and 11 RBI. Hit safely in 15 of the 20 PCSC games and had the longest hitting streak of any LMU player, putting together a 12 game streak between April 11 and May 2. Selected to the All-PCSC team as a third baseman, Fischer also made seven appearances at pitcher, posting a team-best 2.77 earned run average in 17.2 innings.
