Lions Split First Two Home Sand Volleyball Matches
LMU hosted Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge for the first time in program history.

The LMU sand volleyball program (4-6) hosted its first-ever home matches on Wednesday, welcoming Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge to Dockweiler Beach and Tower 42 for a pair of matches. The Lions defeated the Matadors, 4-1, while dropping a close contest to Long Beach State, 3-2.
LMU's Taylor Akana and Rachelle Suaava posted victories over Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge, defeating Mahina-Boyd of CSUN, 21-10, 21-19 and knocking-off Cabrajac-Mackie in come-from-behind fashion, 13-21, 21-18, 15-12.
Playing on court five, the pair of Ashley Maxfeldt and Anne Marie Taylor won a close battle against CSUN's Serna-Casino, 22-20, 21-11. The duo was also in a close match against LBSU's Wagner-Wagner, this time falling, 22-20, 21-16.
LMU will return to action on April 3, heading to USC to compete against the Trojans and UCLA. Action begins at 1:30 pm.
