Betsi Metter and Litara Keil reached the Final Four of the 2014 AVCA Sand Volleyball Pairs Championship, earning All-American honors on Sunday from Gulf Shores, Ala.

The ninth-seeded pair began the Championship bracket by defeating #8 Stephanie Pellitteri-Kristina Pellietteri of Florida State in a close match, 22-20, 22-20. The Lions had previously dropped a match to Florida State's #2 pair on March 15, 21-11, 21-19.

LMU's second-round matchup pit the Lions against top-seeded Kelley Larsen-Kellie Woolever of the 2014 Team National Champions from Pepperdine. In another tight match, LMU recorded the upset for the second time this year, registering a 21-18, 12-21, 15-13 victory. Metter-Keil had previously topped Pepperdine's top pair on March 20.

Reaching the Final Four for the first time in program history, LMU met a familiar foe in USC's Kirby Burnham-Sara Hughes in the semifinals. The historic run for LMU ended there, as the Trojan pair, which had beaten Metter-Keil in five earlier matches this year, topped LMU, 21-19, 21-15 en route to eventually winning the National Championship.
