DiG Magazine Preseason Poll

Preparing to play its first official NCAA season of beach volleyball, LMU will enter the 2016 campaign carrying a #14 ranking according to the DiG Magazine Women's Beach Volleyball Preseason Poll that was released earlier this week. USC will begin 2016 as the top-ranked program in women’s collegiate beach volleyball. The inaugural NCAA Championships will be held in Gulf Shores, Alabama from May 6-8. Eight teams will ultimately qualify for the NCAA Beach Championships in Gulf Shores in May.

LMU will be led by first-year head coach John Mayer in 2016, after Mayer has served as a volunteer assistant since the inception of the program in 2012. The Lions went 4-11 last year as a team, but the pair of Betsi Flint and Sarah Sponcil played for the AVCA National Championship in the pairs portion of the tournament. Flint is now the volunteer assistant at LMU after recently earning AVP Newcomer of the Year honors in her first professional season.

LMU's 2016 season will begin on March 4 when they travel to Tucson, Ariz. to compete against California, Cal Poly and Arizona.
