Former Lions Win First AVP Event as Team

FULL STORY FROM THE SEATTLE TIMES

Playing just their second AVP event together, former Lion greats Emily Day and Betsi Flint combined to win the 2018 AVP Beach Volleyball Seattle Open last weekend. The second-seeded duo won the women’s title over third-ranked April Ross and Caitlin Ledoux in three sets. The pair recovered after losing the first set 21-19, then won the final two frames 21-19 and 18-16.

While the LMU connection surely is strong with the pair of Day and Flint, the lines to LMU run even deeper, as current assistant coach Jackson Metichecchia has served as a coach for the duo over the summer.

The pair had little time to actually celebrate the victory, as they promptly boarded a flight to Poland to compete for Team USA in the FIVB 4. They have already qualified for the Main Draw of the event. Fans can follow the action by visiting Beach Volleyball World Tour - Poland
