The tournament is over in Hawaii. We've come a long way as a team to play hard and fight every match this weekend. Falling short to Hawaii and Long Beach State (the defending national champions) was very hard. However, after struggling through some adversity, LMU came out on top over #10 Stanford. Beating Stanford was a huge gain for our program. Having that be a first win for the season leaves the girls feeling excited and motivated to get back to California and get to work. This tournament was a great experience for the Lions. Congrats to the individual team of Tara and Betsi for making it into the Quarter Finals on Saturday of bracket play. And congrats to Avery Bush for receiving the Spirit award, given out by all the coaches of the tournament! With the sand season officially under way, the Lions are excited and eager to get home and prepare for our next match against USC. Until next time, thank you for all the support. The Women's LMU Sand Volleyball team thanks you!

Day two in Hawaii was a success! Today the Lions left Waikiki and went to explore the North Shore! Thank you to the Lynden family for inviting us to their ocean-front beach house! The water was clear and the Lions were getting wet on the sand bar! After having a great lunch on the ocean, the Lions were off for another great day of practice at Queens beach. An early practice allowed the Lions to explore the wonderful town of Waikiki! As the sun set, we gathered as a team and took a scenic route to the Outrigger Club for dinner with Alumni. Safe to say we had a wonderful day exploring more of Oahu! The Lions are getting ready for bed as we prepare to start our first day of competition in the morning! Go Lions!

Aloha! From the Women's Sand Volleyball team! After a long six-hour flight the restless, excited, and hungry Lions are in Honolulu Hawaii! A trip we never thought would come, is finally here. Excitement fills the flight as we are ready to land and get to the beach and start competition. Don't get me wrong, we want to explore the island and have a little fun before! However, this is the first competition of the season. The team is fired up, and prepared to take on any challenges we face! I cannot wait to compete with my teammates in the first competition of our 2014 sand volleyball season. What's better than starting in Hawaii? I can speak for the team when I say we are blessed and thankful for this opportunity.
For everyone joining us for the first time, Sand Volleyball is in it's third season at LMU. It is 5 teams of girls that compete, so the game is 2 on 2. The teams for this Hawaii trip are as follows:
1. Tara and Betsi
2. Kat and Rachelle
3. Ashley and Caitlin
4. Avery and Taylor A.
5. Ann Marie and Hannah
6. Taylor S. and Alyssa
The school with three wins, wins that competition. It also benefits you to get individual wins as well.
Now with everyone familiar with the rules, wish us luck over here in Hawaii as we take on University of Hawaii, Stanford, and Long Beach State. As the islanders of Honolulu like to say, Mahalo!
