With a Wells Fargo PCH Cup point and a head-to-head victory on the line entering the final race of the Lions Cup on Saturday afternoon, LMU finished in front of Pepperdine in the 400 freestyle relay to defeat the Waves in the Division I scoring, 286-280.5.

Hosting the inaugural Lions Cup over the weekend at Burns Aquatic Center, LMU swimming holds a slim half point lead over PCH Cup rival Pepperdine in the DI scoring segment of the four-team invitational following one session of competition. The Lions own 83 points through five events, with the Waves sitting at 82.5 points.

Swimming in a double dual meet against UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon, LMU dropped a pair of decisions, but senior Hannah Calton managed to capture a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.50. The Lions dropped a meet to UCSD, 234-57, and fell to CSU Bakersfield, 228-63.

The LMU swim team will return to the water following winter break on Saturday, traveling to Bakersfield, Calif. for a double-dual meet against UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield. Competition between the three teams begins at Noon.

On the final day of the A3 Performance Invitational, three additional Lions swimmers qualified for the evening finals, including LMU senior standout Hannah Calton, who made it back to her third final of the competition placing 13th in the 100 freestyle in a personal-best time of 51.69.

A trio of Lion swimmers reached evening finals on Friday from the A3 Performance Invitational, as senior Hannah Calton joined freshmen Lanna Kozlowski and Olivia Nielsen in the night competition.

Senior Hannah Calton took sixth overall in the Championship Final of the 200 individual medley on Thursday from the A3 Performance Invitational. Calton earned the sixth-place finish with a time of 2:03.37 after registering a mark of 2:03.00 in the morning preliminary races.
