Rachel Dekar is in her third season with LMU swimming... will serve as a team captain for the second straight season...
2012-13... was selected LMU's Student-Athlete of the Year after breaking the program record in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:02.36 placing fourth at the MPSF Championship and earning an NCAA "B" cut and second team All-Conference honors... also placed 12th in the 200 breaststroke... swam the breaststroke leg on LMU's 200 Medley Relay which shattered the previous program record by almost two seconds... MPSF Academic All-Conference selection... qualified and competed in the U.S. National Championship held in Austin, Texas in December 2012... won dual meet victories in 100 breaststroke against UCSD, CSUB (twice), and Cal Baptist and in the 200 breaststroke against Tulane, USD, Fresno St., Pepperdine, CSUB, Cal. Baptist... team captain for both the 2012-13 season and the 2013-14 season.
2011-12... redshirted the LMU season following shoulder surgery... swam (unattached) a season best 1:03.74 in the 100 breaststroke at the 2012 CA Older JOs... swam (unattached) a season best 2:21.90 in the 200 breaststroke in the same meet...
2010-11... as a sophomore transfer from Pepperdine University, made an instant impact in the breaststroke events for the Lions, earning second team All-MPSF honors in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events with a fourth and seventh-place finish at the MPSF Championships while establishing new LMU program record times of 1:02.81 and 2:16.57, respectively... also helped the Lions to a third-place finish and new LMU program record in the 400 medley relay, dropping over three seconds from the previous record... picked up three wins for the Lions in the 200 breaststroke in dual meets against Cal Poly, San Diego, and Pepperdine... won the LMU Athletic Department "Iggy" award for 2011 Newcomer of the Year, and was voted "Most Team Spirit" by teammates...
2009-10... Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete ... PCSC All-Conference ... set the varsity record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.05 during preliminaries at the PCSC Championships ... went on to place sixth during the finals of this event with a time of 2:22.19 and finished fourth in the 100 breast (1:05.05) ... scored seventh-place points at PCSCs in the 200 individual medley, completing the course in 2:09.38 ... part of three relays (200 and 400 medley and 200 freestyle) that all finished among the top five and posted season best time of 1:37.74, 1:48.20 and 3:57.60 ... clocked her season best time of 1:05.00 in the 100 breast during the 400 medley relay at PCSCs ... registered team's fastest time in the 200 IM (2:09.24) during PCSC prelims ... Pepperdine's third-best swimmer in the 50 free (24.27) and 100 fly (1:01.29) ... finished the year holding the program's first and fifth fastest times in the 200 breast and its No. 3 through 5 marks in the 100 breast...
A 2009 graduate of Cranbrook Kingswood High School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich... graduated with honors in 2009 from Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School, where she was a four-year varsity letterwinner in the breaststroke and butterfly for head coach Scott Hedges ... seven-time NICSA All-American, including four times in the 100 breast and three times with the 200 medley relay ... two-time state champion (all-division) and record holder in the 100 breast ... 2006 state champion and all-division record holder in the 200 medley relay (1:46.55) ... winner of two state titles (Division III) in the 200 medley relay and 200 individual medley ... four-time Oakland County Meet Champion in the 100 breast ... holds four Independent League and school varsity records ... twelve-time MHSAA All-State selection ... All-Area and All-County first team selection in four consecutive years ... named to the 2008 Michigan High School Swimming Dream Team ... served as team captain and was voted MVP ... three-time Dr. Pepper Athlete of the Week as chosen by the Oakland Press ... nominated by High School for Michigan Athlete of the Year Award ...
