2012-13... immediately impacted the depth and competition levels in LMU's breaststroke and sprint butterfly events... duel meet and championship performances quickly introduced her name into the LMU history books... became the third fastest woman in LMU history in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.12), and ninth-fastest in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.89)... her Beach Cup performances provided two top-three finishes in the 100 and 200 breast and a top-six finish in the 100 butterfly... finished 19th in the 200 breaststroke, and 28th in 100 fly at the MPSF Conference Championships...
A 2012 graduate of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Ill... a four-year varsity letterwinner under coach Kelly Timson... named team captain as a senior... All-Conference selection in her final year... took home All-CIF and All-State honors following each of her final two years...left high school as the record holder in the 100 breaststroke... garnered All-American recognition for her part in school's 200 medley relay... also competed in water polo in high school...
Hallie Marie Hengels was born on May 12, 1994 in Lake Forest, Ill... parents are Martha and Michael Hengels... has one brother, Ben... brother competed in swimming and water polo at Penn State... considered University of South Carolina - Columbia, but chose LMU because she loved the campus, the atmosphere of Southern California, and the girls on the swim team... a civil engineering major.
