Mary Kate Short is in her second season with LMU swimming...
AT LMU 2010-11... made an instant impact in distance events for LMU throughout the season, earning "Freshman of the Year" and "Most Improved" awards after dropping over 25 seconds in the1650, 10 seconds in the 400 IM and eight seconds in 500 freestyle... qualified for the consolation finals at the MPSF Championships, finishing 14th in the 400 IM with a 4:32.89, fourth-fastest in LMU history and16th in the 1650 with the second-fastest time in LMU history (17:21.30)... was also 22nd in the 500 freestyle with a 5:04.61, fourth in LMU history... swam to lifetime-best times in the 100 and 200 butterfly, and 100 and 200 freestyle throughout the season... picked up a win in the 1650 against USD and Fresno State at the Valley Invitational...
HIGH SCHOOL
A 2010 graduate of Reno High School in Reno, Nev... a four-year varsity letterwinner... served as team captain in her senior year... an All-League selection in all four years... named All-Region as a freshman, junior and senior... an integral part of Reno's State Championship team in 2008... helped her team to the Northern Nevada Regional Championship in all four seasons...

Mary Katherine Short was born on November 12, 1991 in Mountain View, Calif... parents are Kim and Mike Short... has two brothers, Thomas and Kevin... father played water polo at West Valley College and Santa Clara University... was recruited by Cal Lutheran and Occidental, but chose LMU because of the academic programs and majors... an animation major.
