PCSC Championships Await Lions

LMU swimming will head to the 2016 PCSC Championships this week.


Lions Honor Seniors, Clarno Wins 200 IM

LMU recognized its five senior student-athletes, while senior Kristen Clarno won the 200 IM.

Calton Highlights Swims at A3 Performance Invitational

Junior Hannah Calton posted three top-10 finishes at the A3 Performance Invitational.


Lions Drop Meet at USD, 163-114

Kristen Brennand won the 50 freestyle while LMU also claimed first in the 400 freestyle relay.


Women's Swimming Swims Against Men's Basketball

The LMU swimming team swam against the LMU men's basketball in friendly competition.

This meet determined LMU's automatic travel squad for the upcoming Alaska - Fairbanks trip.

Sofia Abrate is in her third season with LMU swimming... also an accomplished student at LMU, Sofia serves as a student-athlete mentor...

2013-14...added depth and competitiveness to the backstroke and individual medley races throughout the year and completed her season in strong fashion at the MPSF Championships...held her ranking as one of the fastest backstrokers in LMU swim history at 10th in the 100 backstroke (59.63) and 10th in the 200 backstroke (2:08.94)...adds to the academic success for women's swimming as earning one of the top GPAs on the team and earned MPSF All-Academic honors...member of the Delta Gamma sorority...

2012-13... a great asset to the Lions during her freshman year, adding much depth and success in backstroke, IM, and breaststroke events... added her name to the record books in the 200 backstroke as the eight-fastest woman in LMU history (2:08.94) and the 10th-fastest woman in the 100 backstroke (59.63)...

A 2012 graduate of Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, Ariz... a four-year varsity letterwinner under coach Colleen Murphy... garnered Xavier Outstanding Senior Athlete award... voted most improved swimmer as a sophomore... helped her team to the State Championship all four years of high school... an AIA Scholar-Athlete in each year of competition... also competed in track and field as a sophomore in high school...

Sofia Belen Abrate was born on December 2, 1994 in Buenos Aires, Argentina... parents are Bibiana and Daniel Abrate... has one brother, Tomas... considered Seattle University, San Diego, UC San Diego and Saint Louis University, but chose LMU because of the sense of community she felt when on campus, its location and Jesuit affiliation... a health and human science major.
