Lions Drop Pair at Double Dual
LMU suffered losses to UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A day after hosting Tulane in a dual meet, LMU traveled to UC San Diego and dropped a pair of decisions to the host Tritons and CSU Bakersfield. The Lions fell by a count of 181.5-105.5 to UCSD and 151-129 to CSU Bakersfield. The Lions won four races, including a pair of individual races from senior Camille Hopp and the 200 medley relay.
Sophie Allen, Rachel Dekar, Kjirsten Magnuson and Hopp combined for a time of 1:47.65 to win the 200 medley relay to open competition, while Dekar won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.44, helping LMU place a pair of swimmers in the top-four as Hallie Hengels placed fourth in 1:08.71.
Hopp continued her stellar weekend of swimming, taking first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.19. Magnuson joined Hopp toward the top of the board in the race, matching the mark of Olivia Fountain to finish second at 24.32. Hopp later won another race, this time the 200 breaststroke, going 1-2 with Dekar (2:24.44) after winning the race in 2:22.65.
Magnuson and Kristen Clarno each earned a second-place finish as Magnuson touched in 59.81 to finish second in the 100 backstroke. Clarno and Katie Rick finished in the top-four of the 200 individual medley, with Clarno finishing second in 2:08.09 and Rick fourth at 2:11.69.
In addition to her second-place finish, Clarno also earned a pair of individual third-place finishes. She placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.27 before joining Allen to go 3-4 in the 200 backstroke, turning in times of 2:10.65 and 2:11.03, respectively. LMU's final third-place finish came in the 400 freestyle relay as Hopp, Magnuson, Brennand and Clarno managed a time of 3:36.78.
Other top-five finishes for the Lions included Allen's fourth-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 1:00.77, Brennand's fifth-place finish in a time of 1:58.10 in the 200 freestyle, Rick's time of 54.01 in the 100 freestyle (fourth place), Stephanie Hess' fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.64), and Angelina Prat's time of 2:09.67 to finish fifth in the 200 butterfly and fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:17.45).
LMU returns to action next weekend when it swims at the Beach Cup.
