UCSB, Pacific Top Lions in Double Dual

The LMU swim team dropped a pair of decisions on the road Saturday, falling to UC Santa Barbara and the University of Pacific in a double dual being hosted by the Tigers. UCSB defeated the Lions, 189-70, while Pacific topped the Lions, 161-98.

LMU's `A' relay of Kjirsten Magnuson, Rachel Dekar, Kailee Mora and Kristen Clarno took home fourth in the 200 medley relay, touching in 1:48.22, while the quartet of Clarno, Magnuson, Stacy Maier and Lise Soule finished third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:34.42).

Dekar nearly took home first place in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:05.36 behind UCSB's Carissa Metcalf at 1:05.12 to claim second. LMU's other second-place finish came by way of Magnuson in the 50 freestyle, as the junior managed a time of 24.29.

Other top-four finishes for the Lions included Angelina Prat's third-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:09.65), Stephanie Horwitz' 5:10.06 in the 500 freestyle (third place), Clarno and Maier's 3-4 finish in the 200 backstroke (2:10.33 and 2:13.10), Horwitz' fourth-place swim in the 1000 freestyle (10:44.94), Magnuson's 59.81 in the 100 backstroke (fourth place), Hannah Calton's 53.50 in the 100 freestyle to take fourth, Dekar's fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.42), and Calton's fourth-place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:37.29) - good for 10th all time in the LMU record book.

The Lions will return to action tomorrow when they swim at UC Davis at 10 a.m.
