Another Strong Day Has Lions in Second at PCSCs
Lions sit in second place at conference championship.
Feb. 9, 2007
Long Beach, Calif. - Day two at the PCSC Championship featured just three swimming events for Loyola Marymount swimming, but that was enough to help the Lions pass Pepperdine and Northern Colorado, even with those teams earning points from the diving events. The Lions continue competition at the conference championship in Long Beach, Calif. today and Saturday.
LMU does not field a diving squad and sacrifices those points to the other squads. Even with diving factored in, the Lions sit in second place behind defending conference champion UC San Diego.
The Lions qualified four finalists in the 200 IM, with Liz Magura taking sixth in 2:11.57. Freshman Melanie Tansuwan also earned points for the Lions, finishing 13th in the event. Morgan Finley and Trinity O'Neill took 19th and 20th.
The Lions are looking forward to Friday's competition, which is slated to be their strongest of the four days. There is another diving event Friday, which will give Pepperdine and Northern Colorado additional points. But the point buffer the Lions built on day two will help keep them close as competition winds down at Belmont Plaza.
