LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU swimming team wrapped up the second day of competition from the MPSF Championships on Thursday, sending swimmers into a pair of event finals, including Camille Hopp in the Championship Final of the 50 freestyle. The MPSF Championships are being held at East Los Angeles College.

Hopp reached the final after swimming a season-best 23.24 in the preliminaries. In the final, Hopp posted a mark of 23.40 to place sixth overall. UC Davis' Kayleigh Foley won the event with a time of 22.78, good enough for a NCAA B-Cut. Noelani Vargas also managed to reach a final in the 50 freestyle, posting a 24.18 in the preliminaries before swimming a 24.30 in the Bonus Final to place fifth in that race.

LMU had two more swimmers reach the Bonus Final in the 200 individual medley, as Christina Cannata and Yvonne Le each posted a time of 2:09.45. Cannata had previously managed a time of 2:09.86 in the preliminaries, while Le touched in 2:10.29.

The Lions last hit the water in the 400 medley relay as the team of Sophie Allen, Hopp, Le and Jill Dahle combined for a mark of 3:50.92. That time placed eighth overall as UC Santa Barbara stopped the clock at 3:39.89 to finish first. The Gauchos' time proved good enough for a NCAA B-Cut.

LMU will continue competition at the MPSF Championships on Friday.
