First Day of MPSF Championships Complete
LMU swam in a pair of events on Wednesday.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The LMU swimming team began competition at the 2011 MPSF Championships on Wednesday, entering the water for the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay. The championships are being held at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif.
LMU's team of Sophie Allen, Camille Hopp, Yvonne Le and Carolyn Pasque combined for a time of 1:44.78 in the medley relay, placing sixth overall. UC Santa Barbara won the event in 1:40.08, followed by UC Davis, San Diego, Cal Poly and Pacific. LMU's `B' relay of Tammy Choy, Rachel Dekar, Elizabeth Murray and Lauren Saylor posted a time of 1:45.72 - which would have beaten both Northern Colorado (1:46.15) and Seattle University's (1:46.38) `A' relays that swam in the event final.
The Lions placed fifth overall in the 800 freestyle relay, as the team of Pasque, Isabella Zhang, Christina Cannata and Jill Dahle teamed for a mark of 7:31.03. UC Davis claimed first place in the race at 7:15.42, followed by Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego. LMU's `B' relay in the 800 turned in a time of 7:46.29, as the Lions were represented by Murray, Kia Dobie, Katie Carmody and Angelina Prat.
LMU will continue competition at the Championships on Thursday.
