Lions Decide Qualifiers for Alaska-Fairbanks Trip
LMU swam an intrasquad to determine who qualifies for the Alaska-Fairbanks trip in November.

Alaska Qualifier Points
The LMU swim team held an intrasquad meet to determine who qualified to travel to Alaska for the upcoming November trip against the University of Alaska - Fairbanks. The swimmers who placed first in their events automatically qualified as well as the swimmers with the highest and second-highest points of those not yet qualified.
Angelina Prat won the first event of the day, posting a time of 10:30.14 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, which is unofficially the third-fastest time in the event in LMU history. Prat also won the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:13.37.
Stephanie Horwitz won the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:54.96. Freshman Tess Brown qualified by winning the 100 Yard Backstroke with a mark of 57.31, a time that would place fifth all-time amongst LMU swimmers.
Rachel Dekar turned in unofficial times worthy of fourth amongst all LMU swimmers in the 100 and 200 Yard Breaststroke, swimming a 1:05.42 and 2:22.14, respectively.
Freshman Hannah Calton won the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:05.30, unofficially the third-fastest time in LMU history. Calton also won the 100 Yard Butterfly with an unofficial time of 56.67, which would put her second all-time amongst LMU swimmers.
Kjirsten Magnuson took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with an unofficial time of 24.31. Lauren Saylor qualified with a 53.42 in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Kristen Clarno won the 200 yard backstroke with a 2:05.69 and the 200 Yard IM with an unofficial time of 2:10.
The 400 Yard IM was won by Hallie Hengels with an unofficial time of 4:43.95. Also qualifying to make the trip to Alaska based on point totals in events were Stephanie Horwitz, Katie Rick, Mary Kate Short, Stacy Maier, Lise Soule, Stephanie Schuffels, and Kristen Brennand.
LMU returns to the water on October 5 when it hosts the Masters 5K Swimathon to benefit the Lions Athletic Fund. The Lions officially open their competitive season with the PCSC Pentathlon hosted by LMU at the Burns Aquatics Center on Saturday, October 12.
