The 2015-16 LMU swim season got off to a strong start this past weekend, as the Lions traveled to the Malibu Invitational and achieved a number of strong early-season times and top-eight finishes.

Five different Lions won an individual event in a very competitive field, led by senior Kristen Brennand (50 freestyle), juniors Hannah Calton (200 butterfly), Kailee Mora (50 butterfly) and Stacy Maier (500 freestyle), and freshman Keara Reilly (1650 freestyle).

In addition to Reilly, LMU's new freshmen showed a lot of promise with several top-eight finishes and personal-best times by Nicole Schiel and Savanna Kim in the 200 butterfly.

Mora was the sole Lion in the top-eight of the 400 IM, placing sixth. Maier led a 1-2-3 sweep by the Lions in Friday's final event, the 500 freestyle, topping teammate Horwitz and freshman newcomer Lauren Akin.
